The Artists
Artist Name - Theodore Carroll
Instagram - @before_the_semicolon
Theodore Carroll is a contemporary artist who works primarily with oils on canvas. Inspired by the works of Egon Schiele and surrealism, Theo explores the human form in unconventional poses and perspectives. His most recent works have also incorporated AI-generated art based on his own poetry, creating a unique fusion of traditional and digital mediums. This is his way to expand his long standing poetry project ‘Before the Semicolon’ and discover a whole new visual meaning to his words.
As a trans male, Theo is interested in exploring the relationship between identity and the body. He often uses his own body as a subject in his painted works, challenging conventions around gender and representation. In a recent exhibition, Theo presented his first self-portrait, in which he was depicted naked. This piece explored the possibility of learning to reshape the perspective of his body through the process of painting his first self-portrait.

Artist Name - Lisa Wilmot
Website – https://www.lisawilmot.com
Lisa Wilmot explores hard edged abstraction and the materiality of the painting process, producing works with interesting and unique surface qualities. Looking outward to natural and urban environments, Lisa reimagines them in abstract and exaggerated forms, attempting to portray fleeting atmospheric effects and contrasting emotional states. She makes art for pleasure, relaxation, exploration and discovery.
Lisa graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts Degree from the Australian National University's School of Art and Design in 2021. In 2022 she exhibited with Canberra Contemporary Art Space and ANU's New Alumni exhibition. As an award recipient of the Emerging Artist Award Scheme she also exhibited in a group exhibition at the Alliance Française de Canberra. She was also a finalist in ANU's Drawing Prize.
Artist Name - Tiy

Tiy showed an interest in art from a very young age, being selected to show a painting in his first show in primary school. His primary school had a dedicated art teacher, and he was part of an extension class as well as taking part in art programmes in school holidays. He continued to pursue this through high school, and spent a year studying Fine Arts at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand.
Tiy works mainly in acrylic paint. His art explores themes of intimacy and the concept of home. He works in realism and focuses on portraying the human figure, often using his friends as models in his work."

I have always been fascinated by art, and I have been creating art ever since I was a child.
In the past 5 years i’ve been very focused on painting, from starting at landscapes to now painting portraits.
To look back and witness my skills evolve is one of the most rewarding things about my paintings.
I focus mostly on nude portraits, to capture the human body in its natural state has been difficult but I have learnt over time that faces and bodies are just a series of shadows, nothing more.
I moved my focus more to nude portraits after I became a lot more interested in the renaissance period of art. I have recreated a few of these older paintings and created a whole new picture with a modern twist, and a much more inclusive appreciation for the human body.
I mainly use oil paints, but I have also created pieces in charcoal and graphite.
